BLOOD MOONS AND BLACK SUNS

As often reported on this blog we are currently in the midst of a lunar tetrad and various solar eclipses. These began in April of 2014 and will end in September of 2015. The lunar tetrads are four total eclipses of the moon, two in 2014 and two in 2015 at the time of the fall feasts of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles. During this time frame there will also be three partial solar eclipses and one total eclipse.

The ancient Jewish sages taught that: “when the sun is in eclipse it is a bad omen for the world (those who worship idols)…when there is an eclipse of the moon it is a bad omen for Israel, since Israel reckons time by the moon and those who worship idols by the sun.” The Babylonian Talmud Sukkah 29a.

Solar and lunar eclipses are natural and regular heavenly events. They are not mystical but the Bible does connect the darkening of the sun and moon to judgment:

Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. Isaiah 13.9-10

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. Joel 3.14-15

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Matt 24.29

These events in the Bible refer to apocalyptic events on the world stage. They can be interpreted spiritually and naturally. Stars falling from heaven, the sun darkening, and the moon turning to blood are symbolic of the shaking and fall of nations. They can also be natural physical events. The scriptures speak of the stars, sun, and moon as signs for times and seasons. The Hebrew word signs in Gen 1.14 is otote. It can be translated as “evidence,” “mark,” and "omen.” The Hebrew word for seasons is translated as moedeem which means “an appointment” or “appointed time.” This is the same word used for describing the Feasts of the Lord in Leviticus 23.1. We can conclude that at times these natural events may serve as signs for significant events in world history.

Except for the first six months of this period in which a lunar eclipse and a partial solar eclipse take place, the rest of the series of blood moons and dark suns will take place within the Shemitah period. We are now in the Shemitah period which will end on September 14, 2015.

There will be two solar eclipses in 2015. The first eclipse, which will be total, takes place on March 20th which is Adar 29 on the Hebrew calendar--this will be the mid-point of the Shemitah year. The second solar eclipse, which will be partial, takes place on Sept 13th which is Elul 29 on the Hebrew calendar. Elul 29 is the final day of the Shemitah period which is known as the Day of Nullification.

In the past this day has ushered in two of the worst crashes in Wall Street history. Those years were 1931 and 1987 which both occurred on Elul 29th on the Hebrew calendar. It is wise for us to take note of this coming Sept 13th date.

It is quite possible nothing many occur on this day. The fact that the last two major financial events on Wall Street occurred at this time in 2001 and 2008 make a financial event a very serious possibility. We need to watch, pray and prepare.
