IS DONALD TRUMP GODS’ CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT?

The answer to this question is not simple. There are so many opinions on this in the Evangelical community that it becomes confusing trying to muddle through it all. In addition many so called prophets are having contradictory dreams and visions. One says Trump is God’s choice another says Obama is going to call for marital law and not leave office, and others are convinced Hillary is going to win.
Some say Trump is not a born again Christian therefore he cannot possibly be God’s choice. I saw were one Evangelical voter said she couldn’t vote for Trump because he was supporting the LGBT community and God would judge her for that if she supported Trump.
Has anyone taken the time to see what the Bible says on this issue? Our God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14.33). We would never know that if we listen to all the “babble” out there. Let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say about this issue—it might surprise you!
First and foremost as I repeat over and over on this blog—we must allow the Bible to interpret itself! Until we make this our standard of investigation on any issue we most likely will come to errant conclusions. We allow the Bible to interpret itself by acknowledging that it is the WORD of God and we USE both the OT and the NT equally to determine the TRUTH of any matter.
Prophets Do Anoint Bad Guys
Yes you read that right. Often time’s prophets anoint those who refuse to obey God.
1 Kings 11 is a very interesting chapter. In it the prophet Ahijah (My brother is Yahweh) is used by God to anoint/declare that Jeroboam would tear the Kingdom from Solomon’s son Rehoboam. Ahijah prophesied that ten tribes would go with him (division of the nation) and that he would rule in that northern kingdom.

Jeroboam was given a clear word from Ahijah that if he would walk in the Lord’s way he would prosper. As a matter of fact, Jeroboam was given the reason why he was being given the 10 tribes (1 Kings 11.33): because of Solomon and Rehoboam’s sins and turning away from God to idols. Ahijah’s word to Jeroboam was powerful and instructive (1 Kings 11.37-38). All Jeroboam had to do was obey and honor the Lord and he would prosper.

Later in 1 Kings 12.25-33 we sadly find Jeroboam walking in his own way rather than following the Lord. A great opportunity was squandered by Jeroboam. He set up idols in other places (Bethel and Dan) so the people would not go to Jerusalem to worship and he changed the times and seasons of the Feasts of the Lord. All this to insure he would maintain his position of power. He was afraid if the people kept going to worship in Jerusalem they would eventually go back and he would lose his kingship. He did not trust in the word of the Lord.

The Bible says God establishes the kings of the earth (Romans 13.1). I am not saying Trump is God’s choice—he might be. But I see a prophet of the Lord anointing a man who would in the end disobey God. This was not the first time in the Bible where this occurred as Samuel anointed Saul to be king.

The fact is that the anointed one does not have to be a perfected man of God. Prophets do the bidding of God. God was working through man to accomplish His purpose in the kingdom/world. These kings had the opportunity to be greatly blessed but many chose another way rather than God’s way. God was judging the nation for their apostasy through these men. He sent His prophets to initiate the action.

I found this all very insightful as I was asking the Lord about this upcoming election. There have been so many contradictory dreams, visions, and prophecy from the assembly of God. I don’t rely on others dreams or visions. I know God gives them and they can be instructive, but I prefer to find the answer in the WORD of God first.

Prophets should understand the times and know what to do (1 Chron 12.32) based on the word of God. Their job is to turn the nation back to God and His Word/Law. Our nation has been willfully turning away from God and will be judged/chastised because of this. America is heading for difficult days ahead.
The one thing this election has shown us is just how divided the nation has become. Truth seems to be irrelevant these days. Both parties demonize one another. We have no meaningful dialogue or approach to solving problems. Common sense seems to have gone out the window.

Trump seems to have good intentions. As President you must insure all citizens have the same rights and opportunities. I don’t have a problem with Trump and the LGBT people. They have rights as Americans but their rights do not allow them to shut down the beliefs of God’s community.

They need to be able to hear us--just as they demand we hear them. It’s all politics. God will be the Judge we are merely the messengers. LGBT will hear God’s word whether they want to or not. The President’s job is to see that all citizens are guaranteed equal treatment and respect. And, may I add, common sense should be a part of the equation.

So is Trump God’s man? That will remain to be seen. Did the prophet Ahijah know that Jeroboam would disobey God and go his own way when he was led by God to anoint him as future king of the northern tribes? The people rebelled and followed Jeroboam after asking Rehoboam to ease up on their taxes (1 Kings 12.1-19). Do you see a similar type situation in our country today?

God will allow us to vote and choose the man. He will allow us to have what we as a country want. The result will be what we deserve and God will establish the King/President we choose. Why? Because it is all part of His plan for American and the World.

If we, as a nation, turn away from God then we will be chastised for this. No matter which person wins this election, Trump or Clinton, our nation is on a path that is taking us away from God. The person we elect will be the one guiding the nation through perilous and difficult times. I would hope if Trump is elected he would lean on God rather than choose the way of Jeroboam who had so much promise. He at least at this time is listening to things men of God are telling him. Will he continue to do so? We don't know.

My hope was that perhaps Trump would be used of God to give America a breath of restoration for a short time like Josiah (2 Kings 22) if he is elected. I am not convinced Clinton would give us such a breath.

According to the Biblical scenario in 1 Kings it may be a judgment rather than a pause. We will soon find out.
