THE UN-NOTICED WAGES OF SIN

As believers in Yeshua we are all aware of how His sacrifice on the cross has atoned for our sins. We can approach the throne of God and be just in His sight because Yeshua was the sacrificed lamb of God on our behalf. We all know that the wages of sin is death. We are often not aware of the un-noticed consequences of sin--especially our own sin.

Most of us when we came to personal belief and acceptance of Yeshua as Savior and Messiah had a lot of baggage. It took some time for us to be relieved of this baggage as the Lord put us in situations in which we had to deal with the baggage. This “baggage” was the result of our past sins. It may have taken years for us to recognize it and allow the Lord to deal with us on the baggage issues (sin) still hampering us. Many of us may still have issues we have not dealt with.

For example: Couples marry and have children, get divorced, come to the Lord afterwards, find another woman who had the same situation and they marry. Now we have two sets of children and all the accompanying problems (baggage) from our rebellious past (rebellious as far as walking with Yeshua) to deal with as new believers. This can take years to get right. Our past can hamper our spiritual growth. We have to deal with past sins and get things right.

We all have a sinful nature and we all still sin. It is important to allow the Holy Spirit to gently point out the things that need to be dealt with, confess them, and allow the Lord to change us. Even long time believers may allow sin to corrupt their daily lives. We think we are living right but then again maybe we are not.

Do we own anyone money? Have we wronged someone? Are we gossiping? Are we faithful to our wives and families? Are we sleeping with our girl friends out of wedlock? If we are practicing any of these things we are sinning. This will begin to corrupt our lives and the full blessings we are supposed to receive are hindered.

Are things not really working out for you? Is someone cheating you? Is someone refusing to pay you for services rendered? Do your children refuse to listen to you? Maybe the Lord is trying to point something out to you about yourself. Perhaps you are lacking in some of these areas in your personal life. This is often how the Lord tries to get our attention. There is a spiritual law in operation: We reap what we sow.

The question then is what are we sowing? If we are sowing unrighteousness then that is what we will be receiving on our end. What we practice is what we get back. God’s law is always operating on a high spiritual level. He is often gently trying to show us some area in which we are not righteous. When we are walking in the spirit things begin go right and we experience multiple blessings in all that we do.

If we are knowingly sinning then the situation becomes worse. We find we are not being blessed. This is key to understanding: If we are laden with sin-- and the accompanying guilt--we will not be able to effectively deal with unrighteousness in our lives, family, and government. One who is sinful will not want to deal with the problems because they feel guilty themselves. In turn, they will not be able to effectively deal with others who are living unrighteously.

Why is government out of control? How many politicians have sold themselves out and receive bribes? Why are we electing such individuals? Could it have something to do with our own character? Could our own sins being weighing on us so heavily we no longer care about being responsible. This becomes a giant chain reaction that spirals out of control in society. It is SIN.

If we refuse to allow the Lord to deal with our personal areas of sin because we are rebellious--the rest of our world spirals out of control. It will begin gradually and then get worse and worse if we continue to pursue our sinful ways.

Guilt causes us to be unable to deal with family problems, personal problems, and society’s problems. We need to get right before we can effectively correct others. Sin hinders us from operating in kingdom righteousness--it cripples our effectiveness and causes our churches to be ineffective. This is why we do not see the power of the Lord in our lives and churches.

Let's get right with the law. If we practice the law we will see positive results in all the problem areas.

Amen!
