THE DAILY SACRIFICE AND THE FEAST OF PASSOVER

Today as we approach the Passover we will see how the daily sacrifice in the temple is a type Yeshua’s sacrifice on the cross for our sins.

It pleased Darius to appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom, with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel. The satraps were made accountable to them so that the king might not suffer loss. Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.  At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent.  Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.” Daniel 6.1-5

They had to find something against Daniel that had to do with the law of his God! They knew he was faithful.

So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever!  The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den.  Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.” So King Darius put the decree in writing. Dan 6.6-9

They knew Daniel would continue to pray to his God. He did so three times daily.

Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.  So they went to the king and spoke to him about his royal decree: “Did you not publish a decree that during the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human being except to you, Your Majesty, would be thrown into the lions’ den?”

The king answered, “The decree stands—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.” Daniel 6.10-12

Daniel continued his daily practice of praying unto Yehovah three times daily. This was his daily routine. He spent this time daily worshipping and praying to his God. Daniel was unshakable in his trust and loyalty to Yehovah.

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.  And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13.15-16

Here we see that we offer the sacrifice of praise unto our God. This is how we offer sacrifice to our Lord. It is a type of the daily sacrifices made in the temple in Jerusalem. Daniel knew about this practice. He offered the sacrifice of prayer daily.

In Daniel 8 Daniel had an end time vision concerning the temple:

Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled—the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people?”  He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be re-consecrated.” Daniel 8.13-14

This vision contains important end time information for us in these days. Consider these amazing truths.

There were two daily sacrifices at the temple in Jerusalem prior to its destruction. This was part of the temple service in Yeshua’s time. The morning and evening sacrifice of a lamb. These sacrifices were made at 9 AM and 3 PM each day. Therefore the 2,300 evenings and mornings are not 2,300 days. We divide by 2 and reach 1150 days (of morning and evening). This is important information concerning end time prophecy.

Today we are just looking at what the daily sacrifice is and how Yeshua fulfilled them at His death on the stake.

Yeshua was crucified at the third hour of the day which is 9 AM (Mark 15.25) in Biblical time and calendar. The Biblical day begins and ends at 6 PM. The third hour of the day is 9 AM.

Yeshua died 6 hours later at the ninth hour (Mark 15.33-34). The ninth hour is 3 PM.

These two sacrifices were being presented at the temple at the exact time Yeshua was crucified and died.

Yeshua was our sacrificial lamb sacrificed for our sins. His crucifixion and death took place at and between those 6 hours on the cross! Amazing Biblical truth. All in Yehovah’s timing. Everything coincided with the daily temple sacrifice!

We get to know God in a deeper way by understanding the word from a Hebraic understanding. He desires we get to know Him by understanding and observing His feasts and Sabbaths. We receive special blessings when observing His feasts.

The following verse is just one example found in Exodus:

This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the Lord is to be on your lips. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand. Exodus 13.9

We get to KNOW HIM by observing his laws and feasts. Important information that we would not see if we did not understand the daily sacrifice and Passover. None of this is taught when we observe Easter in main stream church. The Easter traditions of man, Easter eggs, cholate bunnies, and baskets are traditions from paganism.

As Easter is now approaching we need to understand this season/feast in its prophetic Biblical meaning. This is only a small part of understanding from a Hebraic understanding. There is so much more.

The early church, under Emperor Constantine turned away from anything Jewish. This included the Passover. This was around 325 AD. Everything “Jewish” was removed from the “Roman Christian Religion” because it was the “Jews who killed our Savior.”

Easter is a pagan fertility festival to Astarte the spring goddess from whom we get the word “Easter.” It is a spring fertility festival and has nothing to do with Passover. These traditions were added to the Roman Christian religion in order to encourage pagans to convert. Not everyone who proclaims to be “Christian” has had a “born again” experience. In 325 AD a person just became a Christian by saying “OK”. It was mandated by the Roman government. It was not a spiritual conversion.

This is why the church is full of pagan practices until our times. Yeshua warned us about observing the “traditions of men” many times in the Word. Matt 15.3-6; Mark 7.3-9 He wasn’t talking about the Torah/Law He was pointing out their own man made laws which they had made up—NOT the Torah.

Think of all the “traditions” we have in both Christmas and Easter that have nothing to do with the Holiday. They are secular but have literally replaced the true story. The Father’s feasts point us in His direction and were created in order for us to get to know his ways. Exodus 31.13… “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

They are for all generation of believers and help you get to know the Lord who sanctifies us (by His word).

If we search history of the church and the whole Bible we begin to understand that much of what we have been taught in the past is not the truth. We are sanctified and washed by the word. The deeper we go the better we know Him.

As we enter into this Passover season let’s begin committing ourselves to spending daily time in His presence worshipping and interceding for others. It takes time and effort but can become a daily habit if we practice it enough!

Have a blessed Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits!
