1 Chronicles 12.32

It is important that we understand what is happening in Ukraine. The talking heads in the main stream media (MSM) are not telling us the whole story. I'll try to give a simple explanation here.

The real issue is an energy issue. Russia has built many pipe lines that supply natural gas to Europe which run through Ukraine. Russia supplies natural gas to Germany and Germany distributes the gas to the rest of the EU. This deal is very lucrative for Russia and allows Germany to control the distribution to the rest of the EU.

Throughout history for the last 300 years Russia and Germany have had a very interesting relationship. They make treaties with each other and then end up going to war with each other. A recent example is Hitler making a treaty with Russia in the 1940's and later attacking them. Prior to the Russian Revolution in 1917 the Czar was of German descent. Germany and Russia have been intertwined throughout history. They have recently signed many trade agreements which allow them together to control the flow of energy to Europe.

Vadimir Putin looks at Ukraine as an important part of Russia. Much of Russian history involves Ukraine. Putin views Ukraine as part of the Russian empire and at the very least he wants to insure that Ukraine does not join the European Union. It is important for Russia to have controlling influence in Ukraine.

Ukraine was on the verge of joining the EU a couple of months ago and Putin threatened to cut off their energy supplies. He also promised economic aid and other incentives for Ukraine not to join the EU. Ukraine gave in to Putin and decided against EU entry. This caused the current unrest as many in Ukraine want out of the Russian sphere of influence.

The question is are they the majority? Many in Ukraine want to stay in the Russian power sphere. Russian is spoken in Ukraine and many in Ukraine consider themselves to be Russian.

The importance of Ukraine to Russia in their energy play is too great for Putin to allow Ukraine to leave the Russian sphere. The USA will not be able to change the situation. We cannot intervene militarily so far from home. We cannot really apply economic sanctions as our economy and debt are so stressed we are virtually powerless to take effective action.

The Obama administration is cutting back on our military, increasing our debt by trillions of dollars, and debasing the dollar internationally. The pride of our power is being broken (Lev 26.19). The world sees America as a power in decline. We are slaves to our debtors (Proverbs 22.7).

There is really nothing we can do to change the outcome. Putin is going to see that Ukraine does not leave the Russian sphere of power. He will do whatever it takes to keep them out of the EU. The new world order is beginning to form and America is not going to be the leader.

We are seeing the rise of Russia, China, and Germany (as head of the EU) becoming the new world powers. As America begins to withdraw from the world scene the EU is going to rise in power. They recognize the threat Russia imposes on their security and this will cause them to address their military needs and not look to America for their security. America no longer is going to be their protector. They will go it alone. Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in these events.

We are turning our back on Israel, Europe, and our allies in Asia. The events of the next three years are going to make this quite obvious. The power is shifting from the west to the east. As followers of Yeshua it is important we be like "the children of Issachar who understood the times and knew what to do." These events will have a profound effect on Europe, Israel, and the Middle East. The balance of power in the world is shifting away from America.

God is moving human events towards the return of our King! Watch and pray!
