GERMANY AND THE EUROPEAN UNION

 

The European Union in itself is many times a more powerful trading block than the United States of America. Together the 27 EU counties account for a huge economic power. They have been trying for millennia to become the United States of Europe. The “Spirit of Roman Empire” has never really died since ancient Rome was ransacked by the Vandals.

 

The “spirit” of a Western Roman Empire has been led by a church Roman in nature for the two millennia since Constantine. All of Roman history includes Crusades, Inquisitions, the Reformation, etc, etc. Muslim culture has not dominated the world like Roman. Islam and the Western Roman culture have clashed for centuries. Islam was finally repelled in the Battle of Vienna in 1683 when Islam was repelled from Austria by a coalition of European armies.

 

Speaking of history, Daniel was a historian, and understood Jeremiah. He realized when the captivity would end. He was aware of politics and had access to Kings. Many of the OT prophets understood current and past history during their lives. It played a crucial role in their prophetic words. PAST HISTORY PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE. History is always in play chronologically in the Bible.

 

This Roman spirit has ruled with an iron fist for centuries in Europe and in persecution of true believers for centuries. “Roman” has ruled the world. The martyrs under the altar in Revelation include all those who have been slain by Roman--and Europe used beheadings in many instances. Both the Roman and Reformed churches persecuted believers creating many martyrs. They historically crushed whomever disagrees with their “religion.” I believe the final kingdom mentioned in Daniel 2 and 7 is “Roman” in nature and spirit.

 

The world uses a Roman calendar--even Persia must use it to conduct trade and politics with the West. Their calendar is used only in their countries. The Roman Gregorian calendar is used throughout the world. Rome was behind the crusades and the inquisitions of years past. 

 

The Roman West divided up the Ottoman Empire after WW 1 and WW 2. This Roman west has exploited and ruled with iron over “Persia” for quite some time. The IS Muslims want to correct that and are ravaging the Mid-East as we dialog. The Roman West reopened the Holy Land to the Jewish people.

 

Now Islam is rising again…God’s agent of chastisement on America, the West, and all things “Roman.” Europe and the world are filled with Roman architecture, philosophy, etc, etc. We in the west are totally Greco-Roman. Islam, as it has for centuries, is once again rising against Rome. Who will be victorious in the coming clash between the Roman West and Islam?

 

Germany has always been a big part of this western Roman spirit. They have historically in many eras been the protector of the Roman Church and culture which became “Christian” in name. Germany played a central role in the Reformation when Martin Luther nailed his 95 complaints on the church door.

 

Charlemagne was the first ruler of the Holy Roman Empire in late 790’s A.D. The Franks ruled the area now known as Germany and parts of France. Otto the Great was another Germanic ruler of a later Holy Roman Empire. The Hapsburgs from Austria ruled for hundreds of years as protector of Rome.

 

Amazingly, Adolf Hitler formed the Third Reich which was really another incarnation of the Holy Roman Empire. The German Church was mostly in tune with Hitler. They made very little noise because they made a deal with Hitler to be silent. Study the history on your own--there really has been a “Roman Empire” in one form or another for two millennia. We must recognize this history for what it is if we want to begin to understand our world and Biblical prophecy.

 

Germany has historically been the leader of Europe. They have historically been protectors of the Holy Roman Empire in many of its re-incarnations throughout the past two millennia. Today, Germany is the economic power and leader of the European Union. Germany is the undisputed leader. Their economy leads. They do not agree with subsidizing the weaker nations that refuse austerity programs.  Where will this all lead? Where is European Union heading? It is still in the process of shaking out.

 

In the meantime Germany is making mega deals with Russia for energy and with China for goods. Germany is the central   receiving point for Russian gas to the rest of Europe. If they maintain good relations with Putin and Russia they will have some control over Europe’s energy needs.

 

China sees Europe as a giant customer for her goods and Germany as the economic power fits their need for a strong trading partner in Europe who can pay. Germany would become a trading hub for Chinese goods and both Russian and Chinese currency at the same time. Trade is the life blood of success. Germany is well aware of who she needs to become aligned with.

 

The impact of the United States and NATO is diminishing in Europe. Germany understands this and is beginning to rebuild her armed forces. She is also encouraging Brussels, the headquarters of the EU, to work with her in strengthening Europe’s overall military forces. In the coming new world order the U.S. will no longer be the head of world economic power or trade. America may be isolated by financial collapse and two great oceans. The coming end time events will not be focused on America but will be focused on Europe and the Middle East. God’s holy disputed city is Jerusalem. This is where the final battles will be waged and America will have little to do with it.

 

We should keep our eyes on Germany, the EU, Russia, and China and how their relationships develop with Israel in view of the growing Islamic tide rising in Europe and throughout the Middle East.
