I HAVE READ DANIEL 2.40-45 OVER AND OVER

In the context of chapters 2, 7, and 12

First let me say the Anti-Christ could be Jewish, Muslim, or any person. When I speak of “Roman” I am speaking of the Western culture that has dominated the world since ancient Rome--our society and culture is Greco-Roman and has ruled the world. At times, however, Roman means a church. That church is part Catholic and part Protestant.

I believe Daniel is seeing many millennia into the future. Rome never conquered Persia, but “Rome” did repel “Persia” from the west and Vienna in 1683. And Persia has not, nor ever fully conquered Rome--as of yet.

When I say “Rome” as I have tried to explain in prior posts here, I mean the “spirit” of a Western Roman Empire led by a church which is Roman in nature for the two millennia since Constantine. You can't blow off history in totality up to our present time. All of Roman history includes Crusades, Inquisitions, the Reformation, etc, etc. Muslim culture has not dominated the world like Roman.

Daniel was a historian, and understood Jeremiah and realized when the captivity would end. He was aware of politics and had access to Kings. Many of the OT prophets understood current and past history. It played a crucial role in their prophetic words. PAST HISTORY PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE. History is always in play chronologically in the Bible.

This Roman spirit has ruled with an iron fist for centuries in Europe and has persecuted true believers for centuries. "Roman" has ruled the world. The martyrs under the altar in Revelation include all those who have been slain by Roman power--and Europe used beheadings in many instances. Both the Roman and Reformed churches persecuted believers creating many martyrs. They historically crushed whomever disagreed with their “religion.”

This Roman spirit has ruled over the earth. One manifestation was the British Empire. “Rome” and “Persia” have been clashing for millennia. The Turks ruled for 500 years, but they did not pulverize “Rome.”

The world uses a Roman calendar--even Persia must use it to conduct trade and politics with the West. Their calendar is used only in their countries. The Roman Gregorian calendar is used throughout the world.

The Roman West divided up the Ottoman Empire after WW 1 and WW 2. This Roman west has exploited and ruled with iron over “Persia” for quite some time. The ISIS Muslims want to correct this "wrong" and are ravaging the Mid-East as we speak. The Roman West reopened the Holy Land to the Jewish people.

Now Islam is rising again…God’s agent of chastisement on America, the West, and all things “Roman.” Europe and the world are filled with Roman architecture, philosophy, etc. We in the west are totally Greco-Roman.

The 4th Kingdom is clashing with Islam, which did not arrive until 624 AD. The Koran is a mixed up Hebrew OT and Christian NT. Mohammad mixed a nice stew and came up with a religion that has HISTORICALLY BEEN GOD’S TOOL TO CHASTISE HIS REBELLIOUS CHURCH. We are now being chastised for turning from the Lord--and Islam is God’s agent of chastisement/punishment on us. This is how God chastised the Old Testament apostate Jewish nation. By sending an enemy to attack them.

Now, since Daniel was looking millennia ahead it is still to be determined whether “Rome” will crush and pulverize Islam…the final battle still has not taken place. It is still to be determined who will win the upcoming clash. I believe it will be “Rome” defeating Islam in a horrible war as described in Revelation.

If my interpretation is correct there will be a gigantic clash in and around the nation of Israel. The victor will either be “Rome” or “Persia”-one or the other will “pulverize” the other. I believe the Bible means Europe when it says “king of the north” and Islam is the “king of the south” in Daniel 11.40.

Islam is God’s punishing agent on an Apostate Western Roman culture. Islam clashing with the West  has been very destructive. If my interpretation is correct then the West (Roman, King of North) will defeat the East (Persian, King of South) in a very costly war. This war will determine who controls Jerusalem and the Holy Land.

It’s difficult to be too conclusive about all this…each preceding generation believes they are the one to see the end. If I was alive in WW 2, I would have surely believed Hitler and the Nazi’s were the Antichrist. They were not. But they were a type.

I try to allow the Bible to interpret itself. In the Millennial Kingdom Jesus will rule with a rod of iron and that will get us all on the same page…we’ll all be surprised at some things we’ll be learning at that time.

I study history and have asked the Lord to understand HIS-STORY from His viewpoint In the meantime we will watch things play out on the world stage.

The Book of Daniel and the 4th Kingdom

Daniel 2.40 clearly defines the 4th kingdom as being Roman. As I have tried to explain in my posts--I have a decidedly different view on what is called “church history.”

I look at the kingdom of Rome as applying down through the centuries beginning with Emperor Constantine’s edict to make Christianity a religion of Rome. About 50 years later Christianity became the religion of Rome. That act immediately threw away the need to become “reborn” as a believer in Jesus--but rather now they were “born into” the State and Religion of Rome.

Since Constantine I view the “church” as becoming very pagan in nature. This includes both the Roman and Reformed Protestant versions. Constantine rejected and rid the Roman version of anything “Jewish” that had been observed or celebrated up until that time. Now, the Roman State/Church would call anything “Jewish” heretical and cause for death. Now those who called themselves Christian would no longer be persecuted by Rome—but the Jews were now persecuted for being the “Christ killer.”

The Roman church was now distancing itself from the Hebraic structure towards a pagan structure. The Roman church opened her arms to pagan customs and traditions that have been accepted for millennia. This allowed the Roman church to grow quickly. Bring in the pagans by accepting their customs. This is called syncretism-mixing in pagan beliefs to Christianity.

Then the church began to persecute Jews as the ones who murdered Jesus. This Roman Beast pulverized anything that stood in its way. The Protestant Reformation attempted to correct some of the errors of the Roman version but did not go all the way. They are the "daughter" of Rome.

Historically we have had Crusades, Inquisitions, Persecutions, and pagan mixture flowing through this false apostate system. Within the church there have always been good God fearing people--but organizationally and on a worldly stage this beast is not a true representative of what a true believer is supposed to look and to be. The beast has historically waged war on those who follow the lamb.

In addition to religion, western civilization is Greco-Roman in nature and has dominated the world. We even observe the Roman calendar in place of God’s Biblical calendar. We don't celebrate the Passover but have exchanged it for a pagan spring Easter (Ishtar). We mixed it in--syncretism.

The forth kingdom is “Roman” in all ways--physically and spiritually. In fact Revelation 17.8 aptly describes this Roman beast:

The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up from the abyss and go to destruction…Ancient Rome was, and then seemed to become "not", and is again. Just as in history…ancient Rome falls, it was, then is not, but the spirit of Rome continues in the West today--it is. And it deceives the whole world.

It fits Paul’s description of having a “form of Godliness but lacks power…2 Tim 3.5. It fits Revelation 6.9...I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. The false church has been the greatest of all persecutors throughout history. Persecuting men who would translate the Bible from Latin to the common language. Many of these men were burned at the stake.

If Rome is truly the 4th kingdom, which I can make a strong case for historically, then at some future date it will clash with a great enemy--that enemy appears to be Islam. The outcome of that clash will determine if Rome is the 4th kingdom in Daniel or not. It will be interesting to watch as events play out on the world stage.

History is important as God works through history. I'm not talking about or relying on tradition. History is history. Rome was the beast that was wounded...Rome fell to the Barbarians: Vandals, Heruli, and Ostrogoths. Looked like the end until Pope Leo 1 restored the Papacy after what appeared to be a fatal wound.

Since then there have been six versions of the Holy Roman Empire beginning with Leo, Charlemagne, Franks, Hapsburgs, Napoleon, and the Fascist regimes. The seventh is currently awaiting to rise in Europe. Our entire culture is Roman. It was greatly revived in the Renaissance. All western culture has been Roman since ancient Rome collapsed...that is my point...it is who we are. That spirit of the air is working in the world now and has been for millennia.

Washington DC is a Roman city! The buildings are knock offs of Rome...travel through Europe...Roman statues, buildings, etc. Our gov't is based on Roman law. We think like Greco-Romans. Can you see it? It's been the forth kingdom...it was, is not, yet is! Our culture is Roman! Most people will tell you we live in a Roman type society--the spirit of Rome is alive and well and heading towards a clash with Islam.

Rome may not have physically ruled Babylon but western civilization built on the spirit and foundation of the ancient Rome that dominated the world and threw Islam out of Europe...Spain and later Vienna in 1683. This Rome has dominated world history since it was birthed.

What could be more crushing than to have your country's borders changed after WW 1? This exactly what the Roman west did to the Muslim nations in order to control the oil. This current manifestation of Islam is the tool God is using to chastise the west just as He chastised ancient Israel through the Assyrians and Babylonians. It is striking fear into the western apostate world.

When has the spirit of Rome died? Please tell me, sir. It was wounded and revived and it has been trying to reform throughout world history--that is the spirit in the air--Ha Satan! The head that is coming back is the final European version of the Holy Roman Empire. The EU is going to fall apart and a leaner version will rise up. I don't see the Ottoman Empire as the 7th head.

I don't see Mystery Babylon in Rev 17 and 18 representing the Arab/Islamic world. The apostate Roman church is drunker than Islam as far as the blood of the saints. They've done a lot more damage throughout history than Islam has ever done. The church has killed anyone who did not agree in centuries past in addition to countless Jewish people.

That's where Hebrew roots and understanding the Bible with this view begins to put the pieces together. Watch how the EU develops in the years to come. Watch Germany rise to power and lead a coalition against Iran. The USA May be reduced to a third world country isolated by two oceans by that time. Keep watch for a massive financial collapse and reset to a gold standard in the not too distant future.

That event an the financial reset will set the stage for the end time action in the Middle East.
