BETROTHAL AND MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB AS SEEN IN A TRADITIONAL JEWISH WEDDING

 
1. Betrothal: Bread and wine Covenant meal (Passover) Luke 22:14-20
The families meet and covenant with each other. The betrothal is now official.

2. Groom goes and prepares a place in his father’s house. John 14:1-3
The groom now goes and prepares a place at his father’s house for them to live.

3. Bride makes herself ready (Holy, blameless, no spot or wrinkle on her dress) Matt 24:44, Matt 25:10, Luke 12:35-40, 1 Peter 1:4-10
The bride prepares for the coming wedding as she awaits the day.

4. Bride Groom returns on the “day that no man knows” (Only the father of BG knows what day to send BG) Matt 24:36
Only the father knows what day he will send the son for the bride.

5.Proceeded by his best man (The forerunner--Elijah or Spirit of Elijah) Mark 1:2, Luke 7:27
At the appointed time the father sends the best man to warn the bride of the bridegroom’s coming.
                                                                                                            
 6. The best man (Elijah) sounds the trumpet to warn the bride of BG’s coming (Feast of Trumpets) Matt 24:29-31
The shofar sounds and the bride hears the sound and readies herself. She knows what the shofar means!

7. Bride rises and lights her lamp which is filled with oil. Matt 25:1-13
She is ready and waiting for him!

8. Bride Groom comes and receives her to himself (Rapture, end of age, Day of Atonement. Matt25:10 The bride is enraptured!

9. Wedding ceremony and feast  last for seven days (Feast of Tabernacles) Harvest Feast Deut 16:13-15, Rev 19:9
The great wedding supper is a joyous occasion.

10. “A New Beginning” (8th Day) just the two of them come away and have an intimate dinner together.

        * Jews call this Shemini Atzeret (linger one more day with me)
