DEUTERONOMY 32 – THE SONG OF MOSES

This is the song which Moses wrote to bear witness to the calamities which will befall Israel if it sins—and the ultimate joy that will come with our final redemption.

Isaiah 46.9-10: Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is no one like me,10 declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure….

This Song encompasses the history of the children of Israel. It reveals the end of the age from the beginning. It is a Song for all who call upon the name of Jehovah and Yeshua. Once again the Chumash is used for some of the commentary.

32 ¶ Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Moses called upon witnesses that would outlive his and later generations. God’s people would never be able to deny that they had accepted the covenant—therefore Moses appointed heaven and earth, which are eternal to be the witnesses. If Israel should violate the covenant heaven would withhold it rain and earth its produce, according to the ancient Sages. Of course, the punishments are much more severe as stated in Deuteronomy 26, but the idea is that the nation would no longer be blessed by Elohim, but cursed.

My doctrine (teaching) shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distill as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb and as the showers upon the grass. Moses is saying that his teaching, the Torah, should penetrate the nation like life giving rain and like the dew that is even more welcome than rain, because it never inconveniences anyone. Obedience to the Torah, God’s Eternal Law, will make the nation fruitful. It is a tremendous blessing unto a people and nation who study and understand Torah and Law!

Because I will invoke the name of the LORD, ascribe ye greatness unto our God. The ROCK, whose work is perfect: for all his ways are right; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and upright is he. Moses is telling the nation that God is great and his ways are ALWAYS just and according to what you deserve! The nation should understand the ROCK, (whom we know is Yeshua) is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13.8) whose word is true and unchanging. His word will ALWAYS come to pass. Note how the church today says. “We’re not under the Law” when in fact it is our code of conduct (1 Timothy 1.5-9). God’s Torah is perfect—pointing out the lawless and disobedient sinner.

They have corrupted themselves, their spot is that they are not his sons; they are a perverse and crooked generation. This corruption is disobedience to THE LAW but is not caused by Elohim. People, not God, are at fault. So many blame God for the negative things which occur to them by others. Don’t blame God, look in the mirror. Understand human sinfulness. That is where the problem lies.

Do ye thus repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not thy father that has possessed thee? He made thee and established thee. It is the people, not God, who become vile in their lack of gratitude and rebel against God. Moses is asking how they can be so ungrateful and not consider the consequences of rebellion against Elohim!

¶ Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee; Moses is urging them/us to consider and reflect on the past, to inquire of those who understand the history of the nation and how God is always in control of events in this world. Moses is pleading with them to take counsel with those who understand the mistakes and falling away of the past generation and how they would suffer. Come back to Me!

when the most High caused the Gentiles to be inherited, when he separated the sons of men, he set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.  When God separated the nations at the tower of Babel and scattered them, He divided them into 70 nations and languages. This was done “according to the number of the children of Israel” which are the 70 members of Jacob’s family who went to Egypt (Exodus 1.1-5).

For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the measuring line of his inheritance. The children of Israel/Jacob are God’s special portion in this world. Jacob is the measuring line, or rope Elohim uses to measure the nations. A rope is twisted of many strands and Jacob is likened to rope as he combines the strengths of both Abraham and Issac with his own strengths.

10 He found him in a desert land and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. God tested Israel in the wilderness 40 years until he became loyal to God and would enter the land under Joshua’s leadership. He led them with clouds and glory! Israel (and those grafted in) are the apple of God’s eye!

11 As an eagle stirs up her nest, flutters over her young, spreads abroad her wings, takes them, bears them on her wings,12 so the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. The eagle is like God taking loving care of Israel, tenderly sheltering and feeding its young. The Lord is the only one who leads Israel, idols and idolatry are not welcomed!

13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth that he might eat the fruits of the field; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the strong flint 14 butter of cows and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs and rams of the sons of Bashan (or fruitfulness) and goats with the fat of kidneys, of wheat; and thou didst drink the blood of the grape, pure wine. God would be bringing them into the Land and enable them to defeat all their enemies and enjoy the booty of the conquest. These verses are a way of describing the defeated cities, fortresses, and kings. Remember: God allowed His people to conquer these nations because of their wickedness (Genesis 15.16). This is the Biblical pattern. God allows nations to conquer His people when they sin and turn from Him.

15 ¶ But Jeshurun (the upright one) waxed fat and kicked; (thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou hast covered thyself) and forsook the God who made him and lightly esteemed the strong One of his saving health. This is the first time in Scripture that Israel is called “Jeshurun”, from the meaning; upright, straight, and just. Israel is supposed to not deviate from these high standards demanded by God. Wealth and prosperity is a serious challenge to a person and a nation. People are prone to indulge in lust and sin when they are too wealthy. Jeshurun became FAT!

16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods; with abominations they provoked him to anger.17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God, to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came from nearby, whom your fathers feared not. The descent into sin worsens: The nation angers God by worshipping strange gods, sacrificing their children to them, and performing such acts as sodomy which Elohim, the Creator, regards as abominable. They bring offerings to the gods and demons of this wicked world which their ancestors scorned.

18 Of the strong One that begat thee thou art unmindful and hast forgotten the God that travailed for thee. This sounds very much like the state of America in these perilous times!

19 ¶ And when the LORD saw it, his wrath was kindled because of his sons and of his daughters. God’s wrath is stirred. It is unusual for the Torah to specify daughters, which in this case refers to what will happen in Jeremiah 44 when the women of the nation were fanatic in their pursuit of idols. We often see women involved in witchcraft and the occult in our day.

20 And he said, I will hide my face from them; I will see what their end shall be: that they are a generation of perversities, sons without faith. God is saying that they were raised to be good and live righteously but they have turned away and angered Him.

21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities; and I also will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with foolish Gentiles. The Biblical pattern: They have turned to their own ways and now God allows the Gentile nations to act as his chastisement upon them. They will be subjugated by nations who have no cultural or moral worth, just as they have chosen to become. This is the pattern and cycle of nations and all humankind.

22 For fire shall be kindled in my anger and shall burn unto the lowest part of Sheol (the grave) and shall consume the earth with her fruit and burn up the foundations of the mountains. What is founded on the mountain? Jerusalem, the home of the Temple…it will be destroyed in that day.

23 I will heap evils upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them.24 They shall be consumed with hunger and devoured with burning heat and with bitter destruction; I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.25 The sword without and terror within shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. This is a vivid description of the destruction of war between nations. It is the Biblical pattern of the manner in which God allows the nations to do unto others. If the nations decide to not obey Torah they will follow their own laws and war never ends. It is the story of human kind. The Torah is spiritual. As such, when disobeyed it becomes man doing unto man—and man’s way is not God’s Torah way.

26 ¶ I said I would scatter them in pieces: I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men,27 if I did not fear the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should become vain and lest they should say, Our high hand has done this and not the LORD. The scattering of the Tribes was the result of turning away from their true God. The Northern Kingdom lost their identity among the Gentiles (Hosea) never to be heard from—but we know who they are. Causing their remembrance has to do with the exile of Benjamin and Judah. Jews were regarded as an insignificant people until they became a nation again in 1948. God did not allow them to become extinct…the nations would have thought it was their power that wiped them out—but God will not allow it. His WORD will not allow it. Everything the Bible says about Israel has been verified by HIS-STORY.

28 For they are a Gentile void of counsel, neither is there any intelligence in them.29 O that they were wise, if they were prudent, they would understand their latter end! 30 How could one chase a thousand and two put ten thousands to flight if their strong One had not sold them, and the LORD had not delivered them up?31 For their ROCK is not as our Rock, and even our enemies are judges of this. The nations who conquered Judah and Israel are conceited believing they conquered them by their own invincibility. It had to be God who allowed the enemy to succeed if a thousand put ten thousands to flight? It was the Lord who allowed it due to Judah and Israel’s sin. The nations ROCK is not the ROCK of God’s people. God will eventually bring the nations to account for their cruelty to Judah/Israel. Hitler and his regime are a prime example in modern times.

32 Therefore, their vine is of the vine of Sodom and of the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are very bitter. God’s people had become like Sodom and Gomorrah. They became wicked like them and suffered the same punishment. The difference was that God’s people repented and forgiven—Sodom and Gomorrah were totally destroyed because they did not.

33 Their wine is the poison of dragons and the cruel venom of asps. 34 Do I not have this laid up in store, sealed up in my treasuries? Didn’t Israel realize they could not hide their sins from God? They were given clear warning in Leviticus 28 and Deuteronomy 26.

35 Vengeance and recompense are mine, in the time when their foot shall slide; for the day of their calamity is at hand and that which is determined upon them makes haste. When the time comes that the past generation cannot protect them “when their foot slides” God’s punishment will come quickly. This portion of the Song ends the dire prophecies of chastisement. Moses is now about to reveal how God will comfort them after their punishment and repentance.

36 For the LORD shall judge his people and repent himself for his slaves when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up or left. After God has finished with his chastisement which his judgment has decreed, he repents Himself for his slave because He recognizes their helplessness and dependency on Him. His great love for His people is abundant when they repent and return.

37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their strong one in whom they trusted, 38 who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you, and be your protection. Our God does not punish merely out of anger. The punishment/chastisement is to provide atonement for sin and repentance back to loyal service towards God. At the end of days God will cry out, “Where are your gods? And they will return to Him.

39 ¶ See now that I, I am he, and there are no gods with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; and there is not one that can deliver out of my hand. God tells all Israel that only He is God. Some argued that there was a god of death and a god of life that the same God could not possibly both harm and heal. NO God says…I AM He, only ONE.

40 When I shall lift up my hand to the heavens and shall say, I live forever,41 if I whet the resplendence of my sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to my enemies and will recompense those that hate me. God says He will turn His anger on those who persecute His people calling them “My enemies.” He allowed them to chastise His people but they were excessively cruel. Now they are the enemy and will be judged.

42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood and my sword shall devour flesh, in the blood of the slain and of the captives of the heads, in revenge as an enemy.43 Rejoice, O ye Gentiles, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his slaves and will render vengeance to his enemies and will reconcile his land, to his people. God judges the enemies of His people swiftly. The other Gentile nations will also rejoice as they recognize Israel’s greatness and praise them for being God’s faithful slaves/servants. The land was always Israel’s inheritance. Even though Israel rebelled against GOD which caused them great suffering in the end the nations will be punished for hating God’s people and God. His people preserved HIS WORD throughout all their history. It is proper the nations are punished for rejecting Torah.

44 ¶ And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Joshua, the son of Nun.45 And Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel; Joshua stood beside Moses as the successor who would lead the nation into the promised land.

46 and he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I protest against you today, to command them unto your children and keep and fulfil all the words of this law. We should instruct our children in the word and service towards God. As the children are instructed so the nation will succeed or fail. We see this issue today in the awful things being normalized and taught to little children.

47 For it is not a vain thing for you because it is your life; and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, which ye shall pass the Jordan to inherit. Torah/Bible study is LIFE and will prolong the life of a nation. Moses was exhorting them to remember how they got here.

48 And the LORD spoke unto Moses that same day, saying 49 Climb up into this mountain Abarim, unto Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho, and behold the land of Canaan, which I give as inheritance unto the sons of Israel,50 and die in the mountain which thou shalt climb and be gathered unto thy peoples, as Aaron thy brother died in Mount Hor and was gathered unto his peoples, Elohim orders Moses to ascent Mount Nebo that he might see the promised land. This will be Moses burial place.

51 because ye trespassed against me among the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because ye did not sanctify me in the midst of the sons of Israel.52 Yet thou shalt see the land before thee, but thou shalt not enter there to the land which I give the sons of Israel.

WHERE THE TRIBES OF ISRAEL AND JUDAH MIGRATED THROUGHOUT THE CENTURIES

These study notes are based on a talk by Dr. Stephen Pidgeon of cepher.net and Steven M. Collins four book study on where the Tribes of Israel migrated. The study is based on inductive reasoning using ancient historical and Biblical markers, stone carvings, etchings, and other historical information.

The reader can decide for themselves the veracity of the information. Some of the information is gleaned from extra Biblical works such as the books of Baruch, Esdras, and others. I’ve spent much time studying these things. Read postings from October 31, 2023 for understanding of the Controversy of Zion and Jacob’s trouble when finished with this.

Our Elohim has many surprising things to reveal to us during His Millennial Reign! His plan to gather His people at His return is much bigger then we realize.

In a study like this the knowledge of ancient and recent Hebrew language is quite important. Understanding how languages can change over decades or centuries help us to track the migration of the tribes. Ancient writers such as Josephus and Pliny also help us to trace the movement and names of the tribes as they are scattered throughout the nations. Names of places also reflect and are based on names of ancient Hebrew tribes. Zaragoza, Spain, for instance is based on the name Zarah a son of Judah and Tamar.

Transliterating names of tribes aids in the search. King David’s Kingdom was Yahud. Its citizens were called Yahudis. The tribe of David in the KJV is Judah. The closer we stay to the ancient Hebrew the easier it becomes to locate potential wanderings of the tribes. The secular world refuses to truly investigate these things.

Josephus in his works introduces Greeks and Roman historical figures which is almost like a continuation of 1st and 2nd Chronicles according to Dr. Pidgeon. It reveals ancient history and where tribes initially migrated.

In the KJV Old Testament the Hebrew for Holy Spirit becomes Holy Ghost in the New Testament but in the Hebrew a better translation is Holy Breath.

Jacob’s name Israel in Hebrew would sound like Yah shah el = Israel = Upright one. “Yah shah el is my first born son” the scripture says = “the seed of” = seed is of the tree—leaves so to speak are what comes after, year after year. We are generational seed of Abraham.

Manasseh

Joseph was the beloved son to Jacob because he was the first born of Rachel. Joseph came for the blessing from Jacob in Genesis 48.12-22. Joseph brought Manasseh the first born and Ephraim toward Jacob for blessing. Jacob reverses his hands to give Ephraim the first blessing and Joseph says, “No, no!” Jacob told him he knew what he was doing and proceeded blessing the younger Ephraim with the first born blessing.

Manasseh would become a great nation and ferocious warrior, Ephraim would become a company of nations. These prophecies have a long history of fulfillment up to the present age. (The prophecies in Genesis 49 help us understand the future of each tribe.)

Manasseh would receive a portion on both the west and east side of the Yardan River (Jordan). Their north eastern portion was in Bashan which was fertile ground for cattle and on the border which faced all oncoming future enemies. This is why Joshua was happy these ferocious warriors were located there. Manasseh would have faced Og the King of Bashan when Israelites killed him in battle.

This Bashan area would be near the present day area of the Golan Heights at the border of Syria. Interestingly today, the Hezbollah terrorist are massed against Israel there. Never ending conflict is the history of the Bible.

Manasseh would fight off many enemies of the Kingdom of Israel but would eventually be defeated in 722 BC by Assyria also known as Asshur when the Northern Kingdom fell. Isaiah 9.8-12 is a curse on Manasseh and the Northern kingdom (also referred to as Ephraim because it was the capital tribe of Israel) predicting their fall.

Assyria had developed the compound bow and there was no weapon to match it. They powerfully defeated the Northern Kingdom (also referred to as Ephraim in the O.T. because the tribe of Ephraim was the capital).

According to Dr. Pidgeon, Manasseh migrated east of the Caspian Sea into what is now Afghanistan and eventually were called the Massagetae. Mr. Steven Collins in his book, Parthia, also confirms this including Ephraim among them. The Massagetae may have been responsible for killing Alexander the Great.

Another area north east of Afghanistan would be the Scythian kingdom which would also be a major migration of lost tribes after Alexander the Great’s death.

These Massagetae (Manasseh) later would become the peoples of Genghis Kahn and the Mongol Empire. Many lost tribes would have been absorbed into this area as they were dispersed among the Gentile nations and lost their identities. The Mongol tribes of Genghis Kahn fought on horseback and conquered territories as far west as Turkey. Manasseh (Massagetae) learned this type of warfare after the Assyrian occupation.

They would have migrated into the Turkic people in an area then known as the Khazar Kingdom. This area would include European Russia, southern Ukraine, Crimea, and Kazakhstan today. The kingdom would have included Jews from all twelve tribes of the Diaspora. Simon Schama in his monumental two volume The Story of the Jews, Volume One touches on this topic: https://arthistory.columbia.edu/content/simon-schama

Many teach today that Khararian Jews are fake Jews. I’ve looked into it and believe it is a form of Anti-Semitism. In any event, many Jews who stayed in Babylon and refused to return to the land with Ezra would have migrated into this Kazaria when Babylon fell to the Medes-Persians and later to Alexander the Great. There was constant movement of Israelites throughout the world.

As these mixed peoples migrated east from Mongolia into Russian they could have crossed the ice bridge into what is now Alaska and migrated south into Canada and North America.

Dr. Pidgeon believes several Native American Tribes including Navaho (Dene) and Cherokee could have this DNA. Many Native American tribes today believe this to be true: https://www.messagetoeagle.com/native-americans-are-related-to-the-ten-lost-tribes-chief-riverwind-says/

Parthia

Over the centuries these Jews and lost tribes would have lost their identities among the Gentile nations as Yahweh Himself points out in the Book of Hosea.

Eventually a new nation called Parthia would arise in the area of Babylon which is now Iran and Iraq. Steven Collins Book Parthia the Forgotten Ancient Superpower and its Role in Biblical History covers this topic in great detail: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/322981.Parthia

The Romans and Parthia would fight ten vicious wars from 50 BC to 250 AD but you won’t find much of that history in western textbooks. The Lost Tribes of Israel became Parthia as they migrated through the Caucasus Mountains. Tribes became known as Caucasians because of their light color.

Tribe of Dan - Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path that bites the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. Gen 49.17

Dan has a very interesting history and like a serpent in the dust leaves a trail of where he was going, so Dan pronounced “Don” has left his trail leaving his name wherever he travels! Dan did not stay in his original tribal area but moved northward (Joshua 19.47-48).

Dan can be associated with many nations as he sailed through the Mediterranean Sea with his tribal brothers whom secular history call Phoenicians but were really part of the Northern Kingdom and the tribe of Asher (later we will discuss Asher).

As Dan travels west into Europe he names rivers after himself such as the Danube, Dnieper, and the Don. Eventually he will travel through North Ireland and lived among the Gaul’s. Mic Donald is a name from N. Ireland. This is why Irish were called “Mics.”

In North Scotland we have the name Mac Donald which means “son of Dan.” Then Dan moves north and establishes “Danmark” as a home. Old maps from the 1930’s have the name Danmark on their maps.

Dan was and is a city in north Israel that has a park with their golden idol at the center of the park. One of the reasons Dan is not included in the 144,000 is because he was responsible for idol worship in the north of the Northern Kingdom of Israel prior to Assyrian defeat.

Moses prophecy on Dan in Genesis 49.22 says, “Dan is a lion’s whelp: he shall LEAP from Bashan!” Dan and Benjamin may have become the Viking raiders of old. Jacob’s future prophecy on Benjamin was that is a ravenous wolf who would divide the spoil (Gen 49.27). Sounds like Vikings dividing the spoil with his brother Dan!

Judah, Tamar, Pharez, and Zarah – Genesis 38

Judah had twins with his daughter in-law who also migrated into the nations, Perez and Zarah. We begin with Zarah. He is called Hebrew after Abraham’s grandfather, Eber. It is believed the name Hebrew comes from Eber. In Genesis 14.13 Abram/Abraham is called a Hebrew. He is never referred to as a Jew in scripture—He is a Hebrew. This is the only scripture describing who Abraham was.

The word Hebrew means “one who has crossed over” as in Abram being called out of Chaldea and crossing over the Euphrates River at the call of Yahweh. When we cross over into our Hebraic roots and begin to observe the Biblical Feasts of the Lord (Lev 23) we have crossed over and are truly grafted into Israel (Romans 11 and Ephesians 2 and 3).

We follow Zarah into Spain. The chief river of Spain is the Ebro (Eber) a river in northeastern Spain that flows southeast into the Mediterranean Sea. The city of Zaragoza, Spain overlooks the Ebro River! Zarah’s emblem is the red lion. Zarah had the scarlet string attached to his hand when born. Interestingly the Red Hand of Ulster was the flag of Northern Ireland until quite recently.

Then we have Perez whose emblem is the golden lion. Dr. Pidgeon believes Perez became the sect of Pharisees. Both tribes have Spanish heritage. In Spanish names we often see the letters “ez” at the end of names like Chavez, Torrez, Perez, etc. Does the “ez” stand for Eretz Zion, the Land of Zion and Jerusalem?

The Spanish then migrated to South America from Barcelona. We know the history of the cruel Conquistadors making converts by the sword to the Catholic faith. How many of them had DNA of lost tribes? How many intermarried with the native peoples over time? Again, the Book of Hosea says Ephraim (House of Israel) has mixed himself with the nations.

When I lived in Arizona I met a jeweler who I asked if he was Mexican. He told me, “No, I am Spanish. My family heritage did not intermarry with the native born. A Mexican is a former Spaniard who intermarried with the natives.” That’s what he told me.

Finally the Spanish discover Florida and establish a fort at what is now the town of St. Augustine, Florida. It was established in 1565 and is the oldest settlement in North America from European exploration of the New World.

Columbus when sailing to find a trade route east was following the extra Biblical book of 4 Esdras 13.39-44 which speaks of ten tribes led away captive by Assyria and later crossing waters into another land.

In St. Augustine at the Pirate Museum there is a display of those Pirates known to be Jewish. How many more such Pirates don’t we know about?

Zarah also has Spanish connections. Many of them migrated to South America from Barcelona. Today there are approximately 1.5 million of them in South America.

Asher

Asher’s territory was north east of Tyre, Zidon, Acco, and Haifa. They would have done business with Tyre. Asher became merchants and port keepers, operating the daily coming and goings of merchant fleets. Rehoboam, Solomon’s son levied heavy taxes on the Asherites and the other tribes causing the Northern Kingdom of Israel to rebel and divide the nation (1 Kings 11 and 12).

Dr. Pidgeon believes Asher ended up in Venice when dispersed from the Northern Kingdom. They would have become the “Merchants of Venice.” We need to remember that the early Christians did not charge interest. They looked to the “Jews” to become the bankers because the Torah allowed charging interest to Gentiles.

Gad

Gad in Hebrew is pronounced “God.” From Gad come the Goths and Visigoths. They migrated through the Caucasus Mountains into what is now Germany and later Gaul (France) and Spain. They would burn Rome 8 times during their barbarian history.

It is ironic that Rome hated the Jews, destroyed the temple and later Jerusalem after the Bar Kokhba revolt in 132-35 A.D. later to be invaded by the Gothic tribes. Divine justice!

Ephraim

Ephraim became the Anglo-Saxons as they migrated northwest toward France and Saxony. In Hebrew Saxon means Sacs sons or Sons of Isaac. The emblem of Ephraim was a bull/ox. England’s mascot is John Bull. The word British is made up from two Hebrew words: Brit = Covenant and ish = man = British. Ephraim would become a “company of nations” when Jacob blessed him.

Lud son of Shem

Finally we have Lud a son of Shem. It is believed the Apostle Paul actually went to Spain as he said he was going to in his epistle and later went to Britain. The City of Lud was erected around Mt. Lud where today stands the St. Paul Cathedral. It is said Paul spoke on Mt. Lud. This area today is called the East Gate of the one square mile City of London = Luddon, Lud and Dan.

In Conclusion

We see that the dispersion of the Nation of Israel into the Gentile world has had mysterious and wonderful results. Elohim is working out His will and the world has no understanding of any of this. The reader should take the time to read and meditate on the following scriptures in order to understand the end of this current age:

Ezekiel 37.15-28 documents the reunification of the House of Judah and the House of Israel (also referred to as Ephraim).

1 Kings 10 thru 11 the division of the nation.

The Book of Hosea describes the diaspora especially chapter 7 and 8.

Romans 11 – Gentiles grafted into Israel. Ephesians 2.11-3.6 also describes our grafting into Israel (the unified kingdom as described in Ezekiel 37.15-28

Ezekiel 47.22-23 – Those grafted into reunited Israel receive a land inheritance in the Millennial Kingdom!

Also search this blog for articles on these subjects. The House of Israel, the northern kingdom, was dispersed throughout the earth. Judah was taken captive by Babylon and about 50,000 of them returned and rebuilt the temple. The others remained in Babylon. Many later dispersed and lost their “Jewish” identity. Those who remained in Babylon would write the Talmud (200 – 500 AD).

The end of this age and the second coming of Yeshua ha Mashiach has deeper meaning than we have realized. It will center on both the Jewish people, the lost tribes of the Northern Kingdom, and Gentiles (grafted in) with whom the tribes have mixed.

It is known as Jacob’s Trouble and the Controversy of Zion. He will be coming to save us all at the end of the Great Tribulation.

THE GOG-MAGOG WAR

EZEKIEL 37 -39 IN CONTEXT TO REVELATION 20.7-10 AND 21:1-11

The following is something I believe may be more accurate than the current thinking on the Gog-Magog war. It is something to consider.

Most, if not all Bible prophecy teachers see the Gog-Magog war as a pre-millennial event. A close reading of the scriptures, allowing the Bible to interpret itself, sheds new light on this event.

Revelation 20:7-9…And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Obviously after reading these verses it is clear that the Gog-Magog war is after the thousand year millennium. Once I saw that, I began to pray and ask the Lord for further understanding and confirmation on this. I desire to allow the Bible to interpret itself…it is clear what this says but many teachers refuse to acknowledge this.

This is often a pattern. If the verses don’t fit we just ignore it and find verses that fit into what we want to believe. If we really believe the Bible is the word of God it should all fit. Sometimes we don’t understand or know how to answer so we make up something. Isn’t better to wait on God and allow the word to interpret itself?

The only other reference to Gog-Magog war is in Ezekiel 37 through 39. The answer must be in there somewhere I thought, so I read it over and over and continued to wait on the Lord for many months. During this time I continued to study other issues and increase in understanding. My goal was to understand the Book of Revelation.

In order to understand the Bible in a deeper way we must allow it to interpret itself and we must understand that both the Old and New Testament carry the same weight. It is important to understand the Torah—the first five books of Moses—in order to understand the difficult passages.

God’s Law is eternal and everlasting. Yeshua never broke the written law. He was constantly under pressure by the leadership of His day on questions of the Torah. Yeshua always had correct interpretation. He always quoted the word and allowed it to interpret itself. He confounded the leaders and gave true interpretation of the Torah. Torah is key—God always has and always will obey His own laws.

One quick example: He gave a life for a life…His life for ours (Deut 19.21). The law cost Him his own life!

Getting back on our subject, one area I studied was the shedding of blood. This study spoke of the atoning power of blood, blood libel, and how blood defiles the earth. Ref: The Shedding of Innocent Blood handout. This study would later give me some clues to this war. At first I just read Ezekiel 38 and 39 for clues. Then I read the last paragraph of Ezekiel 37:

Ezekiel 37:20-28…And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all. Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.

And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

God is talking about the children of Israel living peacefully in the land as one people—no longer divided. He is setting His sanctuary in the midst of them forever. This sounded like the MK (Millennial Kingdom) to me.

Going back and reading the rest of Ezekiel 37 began to put it all into perspective. Ezekiel 37.1-14 speaks about the dry bones coming together. In Jewish teaching these verses are symbolic of the restoration of the Jewish people. When the Shabbat falls during the week of Passover the Jews read these verses (Ezekiel 36.37-37.14) envisioning them as a second liberating Passover experience (From Jewish Study Bible—JSB).

I’ve always looked at these dry bones as a metaphor of the Holocaust. The word for a burnt offering in Hebrew is “holocaust”. During World War II the Jews were offered up to Satan as a burnt offering! These bones come together and God breaths on them and they become alive.

I always picture in my mind the photos of piles of bones found in the concentration camps. It looked like the end of the Jews. They were now displaced persons with nowhere to go. But, alas, the land of Israel was available due to the Zionist movement. There was a place to go—and go they did by the millions. This part of the prophecy has been accomplished in our time.

Ezekiel 37.15-28 describes the vision of the two sticks coming together. This represents the Jews (Judah) and the ten lost tribes (Joes, Gentiles) coming together. Ref: Lost Tribes of Israel teaching. This is also taking place in our day. This is the reason so many Gentiles are being drawn to understand the Hebrew roots and meanings of the scriptures. God is regathering the lost tribes which were scattered among the Gentiles. They lost their identities but are now rediscovering who they really are.

All of these things must come into total fulfillment before we can enter into the MK. Ezekiel 37.24-28 seem to be describing the MK. It is a time of peace and the presence of God. This is not what we see now.

As I went from Ezekiel 37 into 38 I saw God’s word to Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38.1-7). Now verse eight in Ezekiel 38 jumped out at me: After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

The phrase, in the latter years jumped off the page. I realized that every other prophecy about the end of the age says, “In the latter days!” This is the only place where it says, “in the latter years!” To be absolutely sure I looked up “latter years” in my Strong’s Hebrew/Greek Concordance. Sure enough, this was the only reference to “latter years.” All other prophetic references to the end of the age say either, “latter days” or “in that day.” My Jewish study Bible uses the term, “in the distant future” here. This is definitely speaking of a different time—a far distant time.

Then look at Ezekiel 38.11: And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of un-walled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates….

This verse describes a future land of Israel without walls and people dwelling in safety! This is not the reality in Israel today. I’ve been to Israel and seen the walls that were constructed to keep suicide bombers out. There is constant fear in Israel of war breaking out at any time. Armed Soldiers patrol the streets and guard the Holy Places day and night.

I have a Jewish Study Bible (JSB) that is published by the Jewish Publication Society. I thought I should look at their commentary and see if anything interesting was there. I found some really interesting things:

It says that these verses express an apocalyptic scenario of God’s victory over the nations that threaten Israel. Notice in Revelation 20.9 that Gog-Magog surround the camp of the saints and the beloved city. God burns them up (the nations with God-Magog) devouring them. The devil that deceived the nations is then cast into the Lake of Fire and tormented forever.

It seems the wicked are burned up like stubble and devoured and the devils are tormented forever! Ref: Resurrection, heaven, and hell handout.

Getting back to the Jewish Study Bible: Gomer, Magog, Meshech, and Tubal were sons of Japheth (Gen 10.2), who is associated with Europe and Asia beyond the Middle East. This combination of nations symbolizes evil.

It then says that these scriptures (Ezekiel 38.18-39.16) are read during the intermediate days of Sukkot (Tabernacles) and the relevant day’s passage from Numbers 29.

The passage in Numbers 29 describes the sacrifices of 70 bulls for the nations which take place during Sukkot. In addition the Jews see Exodus 33.12--34.26, the restoration of the tablets of commandments after the golden calf incident, relating to this same passage about Ezekiel’s restoration.

This is a lot of information to process, but confirmed God’s point about understanding the Torah and whole Old Testament.

Revelation 20 shows Gog-Magog attacking after the MK. Prior to this many things have been restored. The sticks have come together, the believers in Yeshua reign, rule, and teach in the MK, the land is at peace, but the nations are still going to rebel after the MK. There will not be total restoration until after Gog-Magog is devoured and Satan is cast into the Lake of Fire!

The Feast of Sukkot symbolizes the thousand year reign of Yeshua. It is a thousand year Shabbat. At the end of Sukkot, on the eighth day, that day is called the “Last Great Day.” Eight signifies the Bride and Groom spending an extra intimate day together. It also signifies “a new beginning” as it is the first day of the new week. This symbolizes the new heavens, earth, and Jerusalem. It begins the eighth (1000 year) day after the 1000 year MK.

I was seeing how all this connects—and fits in prophetically. But I’d never see it if I wasn’t into Hebrew roots! I’d miss it because the only thing I’d be reading is the New Testament. Which, by the way, is commentary on the Old!

These verses in Ezekiel 38.8-13 are describing the Millennial Kingdom (MK). Revelation 20.7-9 specifically say, “After the thousand years”. Even the Jewish people are seeing some of these things in a shadowy way---but we can see it clearly because Yeshua clears up all the doubts and questions. The New Testament and Book of Revelation are only understood fully by understanding Hebrew roots and the new birth (and the insights) believing in Yeshua brings.

Moving forward to Ezekiel 39 it became clearer. The Lord says he is going to burn them up and all the heathen will know He is God (Ezekiel 39.5-7). Ezekiel 39.11-16 speaks of cleansing the land from the blood that has been shed during this great battle. The earth must be cleansed from blood. The blood must be covered with earth and the land cleansed. Why?

I believe the answer is in Revelation 21.1-10. The present earth must be cleansed from blood so that the new heaven, new earth, and New Jerusalem can be established. This would fulfill the Torah command to cleanse the land from blood. The Torah is always fulfilled—the law must be kept.

The seven years of fire burning from the destruction of the weapons was also interesting when I looked at the JSB. Here is what they say:

“The victory fires that burn for seven years represent the vast amount of weaponry that could not defeat Israel. It also recalls the sabbatical seven year agricultural and economic cycle. The burial of Gog marks the final stage of the cleansing of the land prior to its restoration.

“The valley of Travelers (or Multitude of Gog) is a word play on (Heb;”gei’hamon gog”) which means “the valley of Hinnom” (the area of “gehenna” or the dump where the garbage was thrown) known for idolatry, the burning of children, and dead bodies. Ref: Resurrection, heaven, hell handout.

The seven months of burial purify the land so that God’s glory or presence may appear.”

This is all described in Revelation 20 through 22…yes, it is a lot of information—a lot to process. Back in 2010 the Lord told me I needed to understand His calendar. That has been an import part of my study since then. I’m beginning to understand why.

The Jewish people read the entire Torah through each year. Along with that they also read the haftarah and other O.T. passages along with those. The cycle is completed each year and started again on the 8th day of Sukkot—a new beginning!

When reading the JSB commentary it shadows what we are taught in Revelation about what happens after the MK. The advent of the new heavens, earth, and Jerusalem will complete the restoration of all things beginning on “The Last Great Day” of the Feast of Sukkot. Ref: Isaiah 65.17-25

The seven months of burial prepare the earth for God’s presence to appear. Ref: Revelation 21.3…God’s tabernacle is with men…and Revelation 21.22-27…the city has no need for the sun…for the glory of God did lighten it.

It is truly amazing how this all fits together in God’s word, if we allow the Bible to interpret itself, and by studying the Jewish scripture readings based on the calendar cycle.

Once the new heaven, earth, and Jerusalem are established the Universe will hear the gospel message. Jerusalem will be the capital of the Universe and the Word of GOD—the Torah and gospel of Yeshua will be heard throughout the entire Universe! Ref: Isaiah 2.3 and Micah 4.2.

I began to consider that the final war of this current age is Armageddon as described in Revelation 16 and 19. Prior to this time there will be other wars. Some scriptures to consider are: Isaiah 17, where Damascus is destroyed, the Psalm 83 war, where a confederation of Arab states comes against Israel, and Jeremiah 50 and 51 where Babylon is destroyed (an Arab coalition or Mystery Babylon?). These are future wars that are yet to occur. They will set up Armageddon.

Another interesting fact in Revelation 16.12 is that the Euphrates dries up in “preparation for the kings of the east.” The Gog-Magog coalition comes from the north (Ezek 38.6; 39.2) and Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya (Ezek 38.5) which are south west, and east of Israel.

The Gog-Magog war is a much later event as described in Revelation 20.7-9. It prepares the way for the new heavens, earth, and Jersusalem.

This ends the first week of mankind’s existence (7000 years) and is the beginning of the second week—the eighth day!

I would like to direct you to Sightedmoon.com a site that discusses coming end time events. Mr. Joe Dumond is the author of the site. He has done extensive research on the Biblical Calendar and coming end time events.

The information is quite comprehensive and controversial but the research is unmatched. He believes the return of Yeshua is at hand and presents a very exhaustive case. I encourage you all to give it a look.

Whether you agree with his research or not you will learn things which are very important and have been ignored by the traditional Christian community. No man knows the day or hour, but we can know the season.

THE BOOK OF OBADIAH

Obadiah is the shortest book in the Bible, containing only 291 Hebrew words. The book’s main topic is the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC, and the punitive actions of Edom (descendants of Esau) against Judah at that time. In this book, Edom serves both as a reference to the nation of that name, and also to the nations in general. Who was Obadiah? Some Jewish scholars believe it might be the same Obadiah in 1 Kings 18, but none are sure.

The Edomites did not behave as brothers to the people of Judah in their worst hour but rather joined the enemy forces. The major confrontation between the Lord and Edom (and the nations it represents) is in sharp contrast to God’s relation with Judah/Israel, which will enjoy an eventual millennial future that will be consistent with God’s millennial kingdom on earth.

The intense mood of the book is undergirded by a sense of justice. Edom’s sins had to be punished. The Israelites did not punish the Edomites themselves. Instead, they recognized God as the judge of all the nations, and believed He would execute justice on the crimes committed. God is universal in his power. No nation can escape His all seeing eye. God is concerned for the oppressed and will lift them up, restoring what has been taken from them. When reading the prophets we should always try to understand them in their historical (that time), personal (our lives), and prophetic (future) context.

  I. Opening vision and nations arrayed against Edom    1.1

1.1 In the Jewish Bible, the vision of Obadiah, is interpreted as the prophecy of Obadiah as visual elements are not found in the book. Edom is being warned of coming judgment.

II. Public Enemy Number One arraigned    1.2-7

1.2-4 Edom is going to be reduced to least among the nations. They are arrogant and think because they dwell in the clefts of the rock (mountainous country) that God cannot reach them. Meanwhile they exult themselves as if they live in some celestial realm. The Lord tells them they will be pulled down.

1.5-7 Even thieves would only take what they came for if Edom was robbed. In this case they are going to be totally destroyed--thoroughly rifled and ransacked! Even those they thought were allies and friends are going to come against them. The Lord tells Edom they are bereft of understanding.

III. Edom indicted    1.8-14

This section focuses on the actions of Edom (Esau) against his brother on the day of Jerusalem’s destruction. As the section concludes the object of divine wrath shifts from Edom to all nations who come against Judah. This suggests that Edom is a symbol for all the nations.

  A. The Judge’s intention    1.8-9

1.8-9 The wise will vanish from Esau (Edom) and understanding from the mount. Their warriors are going to lose the will to fight and no man shall survive the slaughter. This is the coming judgment.

 B. The case against Edom    1.10-15

1.10-15 For their outrage against their brother Jacob, Edom is going to be disgraced. When Jerusalem was sacked Edom was there helping. They gazed on their brother with glee, they gloated, they jeered, and stole all they could. They even cut down the fleeing refugees. As they did it is now going to be done to them--yea against all nations the day of the Lord is at hand!

Esau was Jacob’s brother and he has turned against him. Now all nations who come against Jacob are going to be judged (v 15). In verse 9 Teman was a grandson of Esau and is a synonym for Edom. The name itself means “south.” Edom was south of Judah. At the end of the age all nations will be judged based upon their actions toward Israel and the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The two are inseparable. This is the entire scenario for the end of the age.

V. Edom sentenced    1.15-20

1.15-20 In this section Edom is sentenced for what they have done to Judah. This again includes all the nations. This can also be seen as the nations that today immediately surround Israel. They are mentioned by name. These are the home to Hezbolla, Hamas, and the Palestinian’s today. We can also interpret this section along with Revelation 19.

  A. Judgment    1.15-16

1.15-16 Judgment is pronounced. The same cup that the Israelites drank will now be drunk by Edom. They will be drunken and become as though they never existed. Gone, wiped out!

Israel has already been judged, they have already drank of the cup--now the nations who were used to punish Israel are going to be punished. The text has individual meaning for Edom and end time meaning for the nations--the goat nations.

  B. Vindication    1.17-20

1.17-22 Mount Zion shall see a remnant of survive on its holy mount. The House of Jacob shall be fire, the House of Joseph a flame. The House of Esau will be the straw that is consumed. No survivor will be left of Esau. Then the verses name the areas that all Israel shall repossess from their enemies.

As an end of the age prophesy we see the Lord on Mount Zion with the remnant that have been chastised and survived from the House of Judah along with the House of Israel. No survivor left of Esau is understood as pointing to the world to come--those who were evil like Esau will not survive. Why? Because as it says in various places in Revelation, “they refused to repent.” The areas mentioned are today mostly where the Palestinian’s have control.

VI. The Lord to be King    1.21

1.21 Saviors will march up Mt. Zion to judge and dominion will be the Lord’s.

At the end of the age God’s people (Judah, Israel, and gentiles who have accepted the Lord) will reign and rule with the Lord who will be the King of the Universe from Jerusalem the Capital of the Universe!
